Whitespace is a nonprofit organization that aims to use technology to help empower disadvantaged groups.

whitespace – (wahyt-speys)

  • space where rules are vague, authority is fuzzy, budgets are nonexistent and strategy is unclear
  • gaps in market where problems exist but solutions don’t largely due to lack of revenue potential or organization structure

Whitespace often occurs between groups in need, community with the skills and organizations with the resources.

Our mission is to help bridge the gaps between problem and solutions by leveraging existing open source tools, developing innovative applications and organizing community-orientated events.

Whitespace is unlike a traditional organization; it doesn’t have a hierarchical structure with CEO’s and CTO’s. Rather Whitespace is more of a collective where any member has the freedom to champion an idea.

Rather than reinventing the wheel, Whitespace will contribute to open source communities deploying these tools when possible and in the process contribute to help make these tools better.

When existing tools are not available, Whitespace will assemble teams with the skills needed to build innovative new applications.

Whitespace takes a barefoot college approach teaching others to teach, helping build capacity for groups to solve their own problems.

Together we can make a difference, Whitespace will partner with other nonprofit organizations to help find funding for collaborative projects.
